About IEET

The Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET), founded in 2003, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to the study and advancement of engineering and technology education, the cultivation of professional talent, and service to society and national economic development. Since 2004, IEET has administered accreditation for engineering education (EAC), computing education (CAC), technology education (TAC), architecture education (AAC), and design education (DAC) in Taiwan.

Through its student-centered, outcomes-based international accreditation system, IEET helps universities strengthen teaching quality, promotes international recognition of graduates' degrees, and fosters in graduates the habit and capacity for continuous learning in response to industrial change and global competition.

Features of the Accreditation System

IEET accreditation is a non-governmental, peer-review mechanism oriented toward student learning outcomes. It verifies that a program continuously achieves its self-defined educational objectives and that its graduates possess the core competencies required of the profession. Accreditation runs on a six-year cycle, with periodic and interim reviews driving continuous improvement in educational quality. The system has four defining features:

✓ Core competencies — teaching outcomes are assessed through the development of students' core competencies.

✓ Continuous improvement — periodic reviews drive the ongoing refinement of curriculum and teaching.

✓ Industry engagement — curriculum planning and teaching respond to the needs of industrial development.

✓ International linkage — accreditation results are aligned with international education accords.

What Accreditation Means for Students

IEET is a full signatory of the Washington Accord. Graduates of accredited programs hold degrees recognized by all Accord signatories, certifying that they have received the foundational education required for professional engineering practice. On this basis, graduates may apply for professional engineer licensure abroad or APEC Engineer registration, supporting international employment, further study, and professional development.
